Web3 refers to a new iteration of the World Wide Web that incorporates decentralization based on blockchains. Web3 is also used as a catch-all term for associated phenomena including cryptocurrencies, NFTs, DeFi, DAOs and the metaverse.

Web 3 can be understood as the “read/write/own” phase of the Internet. Rather than just using free tech platforms in exchange for our data, users can participate in the governance and operation of the protocols themselves. This means people can become participants and owners, not just customers or products.
Web3 gives humanity the possibility of transforming scarcity into abundance - making intangible assets explicit and scarce and investable by a global market, while centering permissionless participation, distributed ownership, and collective governance. SuperBenefit has been assembling a diverse group of culture hackers, activists, movement builders and systems innovators from around the world. We currently have 180+ early adopters in our Discord and a small team of contributors who are co-creating the infrastructure to scale the movement. Now that we have published our Mirror post, we are looking forward to welcoming more people to collaborate with us around the 6 invitations that frame the next phase of our work (see next question).
We have spent the last 6 months setting up community infrastructure, establishing our cadence of working group meetings, completing our Theory of Change investment thesis, publishing our first Mirror post, and launching our $SPRB governance token.

You can expect to be stimulated and challenged, to work with great people with a great deal of autonomy on projects that we believe will accelerate the arrival of a better world.
That said, making the jump to working for a DAO can be a challenge. Working without a boss or contract - and often with no clear role (at least when you start contributing to a DAO) or job description - comes more easily to some people than to others.

It’s a good question and we know that Discord is a completely new app for many people. We understand that having to use Discord may be a barrier and we want to be as inclusive as possible.
However, the reality is that the vast majority of current web3 projects use Discord as their primary means of communication! So, if you’re going explore web3, you’re going to need to get familiar with Discord sooner or later, and what better time than now? This handy Discord guide will answer most of your questions!
